Environment

Environmental stewardship is a fundamental part of our company's operational plan. The sea-floor is a fragile ecosystem and the home of our cables. And much like the life in the deep ocean, we seek an undisturbed environment of balanced interests.

The Farice cables are buried in the ocean sediments wherever possible. The cable coating is made of inert materials which are environmentally neutral. Submarine cables, when near the surface of the sediments or on solid rock, offer an anchor for marine organisms like anemones, crinoids, and sponges.

Farice supports the need for a viable and healthy marine environment, especially in the deep oceans.  The nations of Iceland and the Faeroe Islands have historically depended on the sea for their livelihoods and resources and we are proud to continue a tradition of respect for a vibrant ecosystem.
