Greenland Connect under maintenance

The submarine cable between Iceland, Greenland and Canada currently under maintenance

The 2009 laid cable between Iceland and Greenland  has been taken out of service today (September 14th 2017) due to maintenance work on a repeater.  The extension of the  cable from Nuuk Greenland to and Milton Canada (Newfoundland)  is however in operation.   The maintenance work is expected to take up to six days but subject to weather conditions.   Further operational  work on the cable is planned in October due to an installation of a new branching unit for a new  1200 km branch along the west coast of Greenland. The Greenland Connect cable has recently been upgraded with a  100G technology and a new terrrestrial route is now offered to New York from the landing station in Milton CA.  The submarine cable system is fully owned by Tele Greenland. Operational support in Iceland is provided by Farice. Services can be purchased either direct from Tele Greenland or  from Farice as a reseller.     In combination with the FARICE-1 and DANICE submarine cables Farice  can offer a unique transatlantic route from Canada to Europe and UK.
