UNCOMPRESSED 4K VIDEO (13GB/S) STREAMED FROM AMSTERDAM TO REYKJAVÍK USING 100G TECHNOLOGY IN THE CORE

100G coherenet wave technology demonstrated

28.5.2012

Farice provided the neccessary submarine cable bandwidth to an experiment that was demonstrated at the recent TERENA networking conference (TNC2012) taking place in Reykjavík, Iceland on May 21-24. The next evolution in HD Video has 4096 horizontal pixels and requires an enormous bandwidth of 13 Gb/s when uncompressed. This opportunity gave Farice a good experience to try out the next generaton optical technology and be well prepared for future demands. A map showing the setup can be seen here. A press release from Ciena which provided the 100G coherenet wave technology is here.
