FARICE EHF to offer global IP transit services in iceland

FARICE EHF to offer global IP transit services in iceland Reykjavik, iceland, november 30, 2011: Farice ehf the main provider of capacity to and from Iceland and operator of two submarine cable links to Europe, today announces a new IP transit service offering.
The IP Transit service is an extension of the capacity services that Farice has been offering since 2004. The service is built around a network of Cisco ASR9000 high capacity routers and available from two diverse locations in Iceland for maximum security. “The service is targeted towards demanding data center customers and telecom service providers seeking a cost effective and high availability Internet access from Iceland” says Örn Orrason product manager for the new service. “The service is one of the enablers for the growing data center industry in Iceland” says Mr. Orrason. The service is offered on 1GbE and 10 GbE ports and is positioned as a wholesale service to customers with own AS number, whether IPv4 or IPv6. “This service is designed to meet customer demands for a greater variety of services as well as enabling lower bandwidth costs with better utilization of international links” says Mr. Orrason. Following the IP transit service launch Farice plans offer L2 Ethernet point to point services with a greatly enhanced delivery footprint. “We look very much forward to serve the current and future data center customers with our new expanded product portfolio where we can meet their needs with added flexibility and better align the cost of service with the needs of the industry” says Mr. Orrason.
