New Point of Presence

PoP in Telehouse North in London

Late January Farice will open a Point of Presence (PoP) in Telehouse North in London, in addition to the current Point of Presence in Edinburgh.

In February a redundant route will become operational for the Inverness-London part of the UK-landroute, enabling a ring-connection to be made. This will increase the availability of delivery of Farice's services.

Plans are being made on how resilience can be implemented on the remaining part of the UK-landroute; between the Dunnet Bay landing station and Inverness.

Mr. Ómar Benediktsson appointed Chief Executive Officer at Farice ehf.

Mr. Ómar Benediktsson has been appointed Chief Executive Officer for the Icelandic submarine cable company Farice ehf., which is a key player in the emerging Data Center Industry in Iceland and operates two fiber optic cables between Iceland and Europe.

For the past years Mr. Benediktsson has held various positions for Icelandair Group, most recently as CEO for Smartlynx airlines in Latvia. Mr. Benediktsson has led several successful international companies including Air Atlanta, Islandsflug and Island Tours in Germany and other European countries. Mr. Benediktsson has also held positions as Chairman of the Board of RUV ohf, the Icelandic National Broadcasting Company and as the vice Chairman of the Board of Icelandair Group.
